Competition Law

Since the entry of Cyprus in the European Union (May 1 st 2004) and the consequential obligation to comply with the provisions of E.U. Competition Law, Competition Law in Cyprus is becoming an increasingly important factor in major business decisions as well as everyday business dealings.

The body vested with the authority to enforce the provisions of Competition Law in Cyprus, is the Commission for the Protection of Competition. The Commission, among others, has power to initiate investigations for abuse of dominant position and unfair competition, and to investigate complains of such abuse.

The Commission is also entrusted with the power and authority to approve takeovers, mergers and acquisitions that fall under the provisions of the relevant law.

COSTAS TSIRIDES & CO offers advice on all Competition Law issues and undertakes representation in all litigation proceedings before the Commission. Our firm also undertakes all relevant proceedings for the approval of takeovers, mergers and acquisitions. Further, we offer advice on the compliance of distribution and franchise and any other agreements with the provisions of Competition Law.
